My Passion

Additional Information

I would love to see every one know how to read.  Reading is such a rewarding, and relaxing endeavor that can take your mind to many places.

This site is about reading and the joys of opening a book and reading it from start to completion.

Everybody's Favorite Brother is a easy to read essay about a family growing up  in southeast Washington, D.C., in the 70's and 80's.  It is a fast read, with a high school vocabulary.

The book was written in the style of the many black writers who I grew up admiring, such as Gordon Parks, Ice Berg Slim, Dick Gregory, and many others.

In the book I chronicle my life but the book really isn't just about me.  Coming from a large family, my siblings had a lot of influence over me and shaped my choices and ideals about life.

The remarkable and somewhat otherworldly event that happened to me much later in the book can never be forgotten.  It was something that I felt with all of my heart, must be told, and told again.

I'm not sure of the true significance of how it will help others but it happened to me for that reason, to share that there are other forces behind the scenes.  We are not alone, spiritually speaking.

It gave me a sense of the enormous amount of care and concern that the Most High Creator has for us.

Job 33:13-17 speaks about a Creator who is in tune and in communication with us; if we would just listen more for the voice.

Most of us are so busy listening at outward things that we miss a whole lot of leading and wisdom that the Creator is pleased to give to us.

My books tells one facet of the panoramic view of my life; my story could have been told several different ways.  But I leaned on the Spirit for guidance, and this is what was produced.

One thing I did not do is embellish events in my book.  That is not my writing style and I didn't need to do that.  The stories that I shared need no embellishment.  I didn't want my book to be a lie, or a fake story.  I wanted it to be real, and I wanted it to be true as best as I could rehash the events.

My hope is that you will find the true meaning to something that has caused doubt in the past.  My hope is that my book will give you purpose or enhance the purpose of every step that you take.  My hope is that my book will touch you, and leave a positive impression on your heart.

Job 33:13-17 makes it clear that God will and does speak to us occasionally.  Oftentimes we are not in-tuned and we miss that often calm, subtle communication.

    Can We All Get Along

    Can We  All Get Along?

    We are ll the same,

Just a few pawns in a much larger game!

It's a simple but profound question

    This nation has been posed,

From a weary and beaten motorist

That our Sovereign father has chose

God knows our hearts, who are we fooling

The bible talks about love, kindness, and brotherhood

Where did you get your schooling?

My hue is different than yours

will you still be my brother

Just excuse the fact that we

    Have different mothers

Race and class add to life's troubles

they divide and conquer, which add to our struggles

    There should be no struggle

If we keep our eyes on HIM

    Don't be blinded or deceived

While your lamp is getting dim!

Th is my pulpit, this is my stage

    Why aren't our leaders,

    up in arms with Rage?

I hear about the evil; cities full of crime

Laws that don't deter; incidents without a rhyme

No reason for conspiracy, no personal agendas' to hold

If you have a soul, why let your heart grow cold?

We all want to get ahead, but don't step on others toes,

Love yourself, love others, and God bless, even your foes,

    Can we all Get along

    brotherhood, racism, discrimination, respect, love

Coming to a Planet Near You

    No more Racism!

        No More,

              No More,

                   No More!

On this planet there's no envy or jealously, no one is privileged!

On this planet there's no individual fear; just common threat

On this planet you can be friends with whomever you want

You can marry outside your race without reprisal

On this planet there is love, a far reaching love (agape)

On this planet no group dominate(s); nor controls who its true leaders become

It is a planet where mankind lives in shalom (peace).

On this planet racism does not exist!

Coming to a planet near you!

    Dilemma

Fireman saves the crack head baby,

postman put mail in the wrong places...

The police person says, "keep it moving"!

(my song on the radio has me grooving...)

Buy why, did that young boy have to die?

We look for answers, and want our miracles!

My Pearls of compassion, field of sorrows, Wishing you were here...no more tears!

    Firemen saved the family today,

the entertainer has a gig to play

Policeman out to get the bad,

    (television has me feeling sad)

But why, did that young boy have to die?

    We look for answers,

    We want our miracles!

My Pearls of compassion, field of sorrows,

wishing you were hear...no more fear.

    No more fear!

    Winter's Business

    Thanksgiving day parades

Nuts, fruit cakes, and pies, fill the tables

Holiday cheer as Christmas draws near

Trees decorated, lights, adorn the landscape

The weather is colder, 40 degree nights

    Daylight saving time

    Joggers in shorts and hoodies

    Trudging thru the blistering wind

Shoppers begin to look for bargains

    Chasing sales with glee

    Moods become festive

Good cheer and good will abound

    Christmas has come and gone,

    the gifts to last awhile

    All the Nog is gone

The last of the ham and turkey

The New Years usher in the

    First day of the year

    Resolutions renounced aloud

    Coats and boots adorned

    Snow shovels and snow-blowers

Replace the sleds, and sliding tubs

The Hawk is roaring to fly

March comes in like a lion

If it goes out like a lamb,

    That's the end of winter.
